Steven Kepnes, Director of the Chapel House and Professor of Religion at Colgate University, will deliver this year's Albert and Vera List Fund for Jewish Studies Lecture.

Although many have said that Judaism does not have a theology, it is clear that the Siddur, or Prayer Book, has a clear sense of the nature of God and God's relation to humans.

In addition, as Franz Rosenzweig has suggested, Jewish liturgy invites Jews to perform a series of group rituals in which God is addressed and redemption is ritually enacted. This talk will outline a number of ways in which Jewish liturgy can be seen as what Professor Kepnes calls "Theo-Drama" with specific analyses of the Kedushah, (Holiness) and Hallel (Praise) liturgies.
