APRIL 13, 2019 Introduction

A great crowd greeted him with joyful exuberance on that first Palm Sunday. Could this finally be the king who would make things right?

They had watched him heal. Heard him teach. Saw him love, and raise the dead. And yet…just five days later, another crowd was shouting “Crucify him.” And following him to Golgotha, there to mock and revel in his horrific death on a Roman cross.

How could this be?

But then came Sunday, with earthquake, blinding light, temple curtain split in two, angels at an empty tomb…and him. Jesus himself resurrected from the dead. Prophecy fulfilled.

And those who had followed and loved him now worshipped him in awe and wonder: Jesus. Promised Messiah. Savior of the World.

As we journey together through this roller coaster Holy Week, may we, too, rejoice and mourn and worship in awe and wonder—with great thanksgiving—that the true King has indeed come to make all things right.

For us.

Hallelujah!
